The European Union’s Digital Services Act is poised to supercharge research into the impacts of information technologies and services on democratic societies, particularly when Article 40 on researcher data access goes into full effect (expected in late 2025). However, research resources, including infrastructure for data collection, storage, and analysis, are more limited in Europe, especially when compared to the United States, and European policymakers are eager to see collaborative efforts that will help grow research capacity across Europe.
The institute serves as a bridge between Northeastern University’s global network and the European research ecosystem, creating opportunities for innovative collaboration throughout the European Union and North America. Our strategic partnership with University College Dublin (UCD) builds on more than a decade of successful collaboration at the undergraduate level, where both institutions have hosted exchange students and provided valuable experiential learning opportunities.
