Brooke Welles is the director of the Communication Media and Marginalization (CoMM) Lab, which aims to understand why marginalization happens through the lens of communication technologies. Her most recent research focuses on the amplification of marginalized groups in social change narratives through social media (“hashtag activism”), specifically on Twitter.
